Portfolio Update - Café des Orfèvres

I don't do branding projects a lot, but when I do, I enjoy it SO much! Sometimes it's more of a challenge than others but it's always worth it in the end. Mathilde, the owner and founder of the Café des Orfèvres, is my first official French client that contacted me directly and I was thrilled to be able to work with her! We knew exactly what we were going for and the process went really smoothly.

I was invited to the launch party back in April so I took the opportunity to take some photos of the café. I wasn't too sure what to expect as I rarely see my work out in the world, but wow! I was stunned to see the logo, something I created, on a massive vinyl displayed on the window! It felt very special indeed. Also, I created some illustrations that she hung in the main room of the café so seeing them printed out was really cool too. Anyway, if you'd like to see more photos and learn more about the project, head over to my website!

Portfolio Update - Tenco Coffee

Yay! I'm so happy to be sharing this project with you guys! I started it a little while back now and it's been such a good one. A bit of a challenge with the van wrap, but you know, there's always a first time for everything!

Tenco Coffee is run by a couple, Ashleigh and Cory, who are passionate about the adventurous way of life and good food and coffee. They really wanted this to show on their branding and truck so we started off with the logo and everything came after! Ashleigh also wanted to have some tribal inspired elements included in the brand so it was quite fun for me to illustrate some cool arrows and feathers alongside cups of coffee. I'm really pleased with how it turned out and seeing photos of the coffee truck with its colourful turquoise wrap makes me super happy!

If you'd like to see more of the work I've done for them, head over to my website! And if you want to learn more about Tenco Coffee, it's this way :)

Portfolio Update - I Heart Planners

I'm super excited to share these with you guys! I've been working with Laura from I Heart Planners on her new set of planners and printable goodies and I couldn't wait to show you the result :)

Laura wanted some new seasonal illustrations and letterings to include in her planners and we settled on some fun and colourful elements that would add a really nice feel to her handy planners and various organising sheets. We were really pleased with the result and not long after, she asked me to create some more for her products until December. For now though, here's a selection of the summery ones!

If you'd like to see more, head over on my website ;)

Giveaway - Abstract Paintings Wallpapers

See?! I told you I wasn't going to forget you! As soon as I decided to create wallpaper giveaways whenever the heck I wanted, I felt straight away inspired to create something completely different and abstract. And it felt good to think that I didn't need to rush it so that it's ready for the 1st of the next month... It's the little things right?!

I just wanted to experiment with my brushes and my black paint, and I started to draw different basic shapes on a big sheet of paper. I then went on to scan it, 'cleaned' it in Photoshop and isolated each shape to add a colour overlay on them. And tadaaa! It was quite fun to try and arrange them all together to create a dynamic layout that would work. Plus, I'm really into pink and turquoise hues lately.

I really liked them and thought you might too, so here they are, totally for free as usual!

The Babetown Collective

Morning guys! A couple of weeks ago, I shared this project on my website but didn't have the occasion to share it on my blog. So here it is! I've talked so much about The Babetown Collective already on social media and I'm so pleased to be sharing more about it now! I've loved working on the brand update with Lola as well as the sub-brand for the E-retreat happening in March this year. Have you checked it out yet? Link is right here :) and if you're a photographer and super interested about it, you can now get $200 off at the checkout with the exclusive code carole200 so what are you waiting for?!

There still is so much to do so keep an eye out as we will be adding more elements to the branding very soon!

Not only have I had the pleasure to work with Lola on the design side of the project, but she also invited me to be one of the speakers! It'll be a challenge for me as I've never done anything like this before, but I'm actually really excited about it. I'll obviously keep you all updated when I've got more details! For now, if you'd like to see more, have a look on my website.

Giveaway - November Wallpapers

Happy first of November guys! Not long till Christmas now! And yes, I can safely talk about it without feeling guilty now that Halloween is gone.

For this month's giveaway, I wanted to go back to something quite simple with a handmade feel, so I took my brush and black ink and I started to write the word November in various lettering styles. I couldn't decide which one I preferred so I thought I would use a couple of my favourites. And to add a soft touch to it, I opted for a snow pattern to surround the type. Delicate and minimal.

Enjoy!

Giveaway - October wallpapers

Happy first of October guys! Let's just say once again how time is going fast! We're now leaving for France in exactly 2 months and 18 days and that sounds VERY scary. Better get everything sorted out quite soon!

Anyway, that's another subject for another post. Today I'm sharing with you some heavily Halloween inspired wallpapers that I had a lot of fun creating! It all started with the typography that I pictured in my head with some autumn leaves to stylise the letters. I wanted it to look quite fun though so I rapidly thought about including some quirky illustrations all around, adding some leaves and sweets here and there. Hope you like them! Oh and they're free, as usual :)

Design by Humans

After the bad experience I had with my collection of scarves at Vida, I wasn't too sure I would ever want to create more items to be sold with my designs. However, when Design by Humans reached out to me, I realised that the type of products they had and the whole feel on their website was much closer to the type of work I love to do. So I started to think about what I would create and the fact that I could design various artworks that would feel like a whole collection when all put together. All of a sudden, it sounded really appealing to me.

It took me a little more than a month to decide if I wanted to share it all with you guys! I've been working on it as a side project for fun and I didn't want to put pressure on myself. I thought, at the end of the day, if I don't feel that it's right I just won't share it and talk about it and that would be it. However, I'm actually really pleased with what I've done and I started to think that it would be a shame to not promote it. If anything, these are some nice artworks to add to my portfolio right?

I was going for cute illustrations (of course), but with a badass feel. I've always wanted to do it but never had the right client for it, so here they are! If everything goes well, I might start adding more, you never know. You can only see a couple of products on the image above so feel free to have a look at my Design by Humans shop.

You'll find some cool phone cases, framed artworks and t-shirts. The only thing that could be annoying is the delivery fee as they're operating in the US. You know what, I'm so careful with my money lately that I haven't even purchased one of my products, ha! The life of a freelancer.

Anyway, hope you like them as much as I do!

Giveaway - Felix Felicis wallpapers

Happy first of September! I know that a lot of people see September as an opportunity to start from fresh after the summer, holidays, and time to think things through.

I unfortunately still associate it with the start of a new year at school (school is way behind me but I guess you can't avoid the rush of parents everywhere around you and the regular adverts screaming 'Back to schooooool' at you!), and I always thought September as a dreaded month. Not that I hated school, but I could not avoid the stress and apprehension of meeting new people, getting more homework, etc.

January is, to me, the 'new beginnings month', but this year, I do feel that September marks a new start, at least professionally. Jason left his full-time job two weeks ago, and we're now both freelance, in the unknown, left to our own devices. It's so exciting and scary, and all that stuff, and doing it together makes it completely different than being on my own. So yes, all that to let you know that September is a BIG month for us.

And now I can talk about the wallpapers! You see, the only books I don't mind reading over and over again apart from anything from Stephen King, is the Harry Potter series. I know, it's quite a strong contrast, but I just love them. And whilst reading the 6th volume 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince', I thought that we could do with a bit of Felix Felicis ourselves, to give us this extra bit of luck that we need in this crazy adventure!

Enjoy ;)

Portfolio Update - Fashion Illustrations

Lately I've been experiencing the joy of having some free time to do whatever the hell I want. But because I feel bad lounging around and reading, I always make sure to do something productive.

So in between searching for new clients and projects, I thought it would be good for me to come back to my first love: Fashion illustrations. If you look in my portfolio, some of the first pieces of illustrations I shared were fashion ones. I always enjoyed the freedom of it and representing models in their striking poses in a bold style is actually really enjoyable. If I'm honest, creating these felt easy and liberating because I was just doing them for me. No pressure involved! And it keeps the inspiration level up so it's a win-win.

I'm only showing you three of the six illustrations I designed so if you're curious and would like to see the rest of them, head over to my website RIGHT HERE.

Have a great weekend!

Giveaway - Pretzel & Beer wallpapers

Hello from Bavaria! We're having the most amazing time in this beautiful part of Germany. Make sure to follow on Instagram to stay in the loop!

I naturally thought about our holiday as a theme for this month's giveaway, and with my mind always focused on food, I decided to create some patterns made out of cute little pretzels and pints of beer. Delicious pretzels for me, tasty beer for Jason. That's how we roll and let's say that we haven't been disappointed so far! Food, food, food everywhere.

Do we really have to go home?

Exciting news + a Giveaway!

Happy 1st of May!

For this month's wallpapers, I wanted to create an artwork that represents all the creativity and freedom I've been experiencing lately. I created the painted background with no idea in mind, I literally took the brush and the colours I felt like using and BOOM, that happened. Sometimes I paint freely and it looks rubbish, which means that I'll actually never use the artwork for anything, but sometimes it turns out right.

For the message, I got inspired by the books I've been reading lately: #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso and Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht. These two women and their very particular lives really opened my eyes about confidence and self-discovery. I felt so empowered after reading these books that it gave me the boost I really needed right now. Even though I feel I'm in a much better place than I was 5 years ago, it's always good to stop for a minute and try to focus on how you feel about yourself and what you want in the future. Discovering myself and what I want to do with my life is basically what I've been doing since the beginning of the year and this is where the announcement makes its appearance (drum roll)...

I'm going freelance full-time next month!!! Exciting and scary at the same time, but it's just the perfect moment for me to take the plunge and I can't wait to start a career for myself. I've been working on various freelance projects lately that made me realise that this is what I want to do with my life and what feels right for me. So after almost 5 years at View Creative, I'm now going solo... And it feels good!

So if you need any motivation for your next projects or plans in your life, download these wallpapers and get moving!

Giveaway - Abstract patterns wallpapers

Happy first of April! Now that Easter weekend is gone and you've eaten your weight in chocolates, it's time to concentrate on all these activities that you've planned to do months ago but never got around to doing them. Yes, you know the ones.

For us, it's places that we've still not explored around Wales and little things around the house that we would like to do before my brother visits us. I think I'm done with the spare room now!

Anyway, I'm forgetting to talk about those beautiful April's wallpapers! I hadn't worked on some patterns for a little while and I felt I needed to try something new. I've been seeing plenty of 'abstract' patterns lately and I wanted to do my own versions and share them with you! I realised that I actually couldn't do something too chaotic. I like organisation and structure a bit too much and it just didn't feel right for me. So I decided to do an organised chaos of shapes. One of them has more of a botanical feel to it as I thought it represented April pretty well.

So don't forget to freshen up your screens!
